Of St. Petersburg, Florida entered eternal life on November 20, 2017.
Ken was born in Milwaukee on October 31, 1929. He attended St. Francis Minor Seminary. Upon completing his education, Ken began his first profession at the American Appraisal Company where he had approximately a 40-year career as a Senior Appraiser. Ken was a co-owner and Board member of Phoenix Care Systems based in Milwaukee for nearly 20 years. He was also an owner and Board member of Mental Health Services in Sheyboygan.
Ken was a veteran of the Korean War, stationed in Japan. Following the service of his country, he continued as an appraiser until his retirement in 1985.
He is survived by Donald R. Fritz, his spouse of 44 years. They were married in Florida in 2015. Ken is survived by Timothy Lanz, considered the son he and Don never had. Ken is also survived by his two sisters and their husbands, Rose & Tom Rich and Elizabeth & Tom Yopps, many dear nephews and nieces, and their extended families in Milwaukee.
Ken and Don spent their summers in Door County, WI. They attended Holy Nativity Episcopal Church in Jacksonport. For the last 15 years, Ken and Don have established a residence in St. Petersburg, FL. They attended St. Peter’s Cathedral Church where they developed many friendships.
Ken was a car buff, having owned more than 50 cars. He had an incredible memory for the make and model of any car by sight or year manufactured. In fact, Ken processed his long-term recall by the car he owned at the time. In addition, he had a fondness for opera and classic movies. In more recent times, while he battled blood cancer, he simply enjoyed sitting with Don watching the lake and its activities in either their Door County residence or in St. Petersburg.
His last year of life was filled with many great memories and adventures. Ken handled his challenges with cancer while traveling to Franklin, NC to visit friends and to spend the summer in Wisconsin. He was a reserved, private person with a dry sense of humor. Ken would often crack himself up while telling a joke which made the crowd laugh even harder.
Funeral services will be held on December 2, 2017, at The Chapel at St. John’s on the Lake (1840 North Prospect Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53202).
