LaVerne Gertrude Geurink Hettinga, 91, quietly passed away August 9, 2021, in her home in Pewaukee, WI.
She was born November 5, 1929, in Ringle, WI. She grew up on a dairy farm outside of Wausau, Wisconsin with her two sisters and three brothers. She grew up with the love of her life, Kenneth Martin Hettinga and they married on June 2, 1948. LaVerne was the silent strength behind her husband in the different ministries they served in. She enjoyed having women’s Bible studies in her home for many years. She was a nanny/babysitter for many families and enjoyed caring for their children. She loved her Savior, Jesus, and loved reading her Bible. LaVerne loved her family deeply and was devoted to them.
LaVerne is survived by her daughter Brenda (Phil) Ransom, Pewaukee WI, son Brian (Kim) Hettinga, Lowell, MI, son Brent (Melissa) Hettinga, Green Bay, WI, seven grandchildren Bethany (Karl) Bernhard, Jared (Meag) Ransom, Katie (Joshua) Brood, Joshua (Allie) Hettinga, Tim (Kelsey) Hettinga, Seth Hettinga, Ethan Hettinga, and twelve great-grandchildren.
LaVerne was preceded in death by her husband, Ken and daughter Beth; her parents, John and Jesse Geurink, sisters Viola and Eva, brothers Truman, Lloyd, and Glenn.
