Lorraine Frances Haines (nee Lorenty) was called home to the Lord on March 23, 2023 at the age of 82. She will be profoundly missed by her husband of 60 years Rod Haines and her children Tom (Susie) Haines, Brad (Becky) Haines, Julie (Michael) Desorcy, Pat (Holly) Haines, Helene (John) Lesniak, and Kathleen (Aaron) Erickson. She was the proud and loving Nana to 14 grandchildren: Stephanie, Jack, Shannon (Steven), Josh, Maddy, Luke, Abby, Annie, Ben, Julia, Molly, Nolan, Josie, and Lexie. She is also survived by her 4 loving sisters and 1 dear brother. She was so loved by many many additional family and friends.
Lorraine was born in Gary, Indiana in 1941 to Thaddeus and Frances (Tyczkowski) Lorenty. She and her family vacationed many summers up in Northern Wisconsin at Whispering Pines Resort where she met her future husband, Rod, in 1954 when Rod was 14 and Lorraine 13 years old; and they would look forward to seeing each other every summer. They were married in 1963 in Gary IN. Lorraine graduated 1963 from St. Xavier College in Chicago with a degree in nursing and worked as an RN at St. Frances Hospital in Milwaukee. She then stayed home to raise their 6 children. She was always present for her children’s many activities and was beloved by their Brookfield neighborhood’s families. She was very involved volunteering for the Red Cross, Junior League, St Joseph Parish Sunday school, Girl Scouts, St. Joseph’s school health room and their Christian Women’s Association. When her children were older, Lorraine volunteered at Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa for many years. Lorraine loved spending time up North where she and Rod met and where they have so many happy family memories. She enjoyed her travels with dear friends to Hawaii, Alaska, Door County, Florida and New York. Lorraine’s compassionate soul extended far beyond her children’s needs. She always welcomed all, fed all, and loved all even in her last days at hospice.
Memorial services by Krause Funeral Home include visitation at St. Joseph Parish 12130 West Center Street, Wauwatosa at 10:00 AM on Saturday April 1, 2023 followed by memorial mass at 11:00 AM. Reception immediately following in the parish school hall.
