Passed away peacefully on January 8, 2019, at the age of 75. Louis is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Jean (Nee McComb), sons Greg (Kamra), Adam (Kristi), Jeffrey (Ivey), and daughter Julia (Matthew) Romero; grandchildren Kyle, Ellie, Madelyn and Mila, his sister Lois Gleason, brother-in-law Dennis (Sue) McComb, and many relatives and friends.
Lou was born on January 25, 1943 in Chicago to Louis and Viola (Nee Smith) Betzwieser. After his ’65 graduation from Regis College in Denver, Lou joined the Army, he was commissioned and stationed at Fort McCoy. For his service in Vietnam, Lt. Betzwieser was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Lou married Mary Jean McComb on December 21, 1968. They recently celebrated their 50th Anniversary. Lou and M J spent many summers boating and fishing on Whitefish Lake with their four children. Lou was a fan of Marquette basketball, the Chicago Cubs and a proud shareholder of the Green Bay Packers. Attending games at Lambeau Field was the highlight of the fall season.
Gathering will be held at Mother of Good Counsel Parish, 6924 West Lisbon Avenue, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon. Memorial Mass at 12:00 Noon.
Louis was a man of strong faith and belief. He treated others with honesty, fairness and respect. He took every opportunity to be giving and kind. Throughout his life, Lou demonstrated an unending love for his family and Catholic faith.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Parkinson’s Disease Foundation are appreciated.
