2007: I was a new mom. Honestly, unsure of what I was doing. My dear friend & neighbor was always there for me: to chat, guide, laugh & listen. Watched Jake in a pinch.
She & her husband Rich were downtown trailblazers. Their lovely condo was one of the first conversions from raw space to absolutely lovely. She was amazing w/the condo to match. Filled with fun, spirit & zest- I wanted to be her.
She set up a Christmas tree for Jake in the lobby. Sent a basket of food & drinks via rope to friends celebrating on our public patio. Wore her wedding dress to her anniversary dinner at the Pfister. Held the best St. Patrick’s day parties on the planet. She lived & loved life to the fullest.
I’ll miss this lovely lady. She changed me, loved me. Lifted my spirit with hers.

Ms. Spuehler was my favorite teacher at Marshall High School. Over 30 years later, I still have papers of mine she corrected, as the comments she made were so loving and kind. I saw her at a reunion about 10 years ago and was able to tell her how much she meant to me as a teacher. So glad I got that chance. Rest easy, Ms. Spuehler. I'm a better person for knowing you.
