Marian May Strehlow

Marian was called by the Lord to her eternal rest due to natural causes on September 8, at the age of 96.  She was born in Weyauwega, Wisconsin to Leo and Selma Rucks and graduated valedictorian of her local high school.  She moved to Milwaukee as a young woman and soon met and married the love of her life, Roland Strehlow, who had recently returned from service in WW2 in the South Pacific.  They were very blessed and happily married for 47 years until Roland’s passing in 1994.  She also was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Verna.

Marian’s life embodied three main tenets: Family, Faith and Friends.  She was a loving wife and a very nurturing and caring mother, a devout Lutheran, and a trusted life-long friend of many.  She and Roland enjoyed many road trips around the US.  She held a strong belief in the value of education and ensured that all of her children graduated college. She spent countless hours tirelessly volunteering at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church and attended services every week.  She participated in many social activities including: Sheepshead club, square dance club and numerous mothers groups at church.  She much enjoyed a well-played game of Sheepshead well into her 90’s.

Marian is survived by her three sons: Gene (Nancy), Mark (Roxanne), and Dave (Cindy). She was the beloved Grandmother of eight grandchildren: Jenny, Tina, Jeff, Stephanie, Danielle, Katie, Carrie, and Kaitlyn and the special Great-Grandmother of six great-grandchildren: Bryce, Caleb, Evie, Ethan, James, and Hadley.

Services will be held at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6840 North 107th Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Wednesday, September 16, 2020.  Visitation at 4:00 PM, service at 6:00 PM.  Please bring and wear a mask if attending.  Private burial will follow on Thursday.

The family would like to thank and acknowledge the diligent and caring service of the staff of Luther Manor in Wauwatosa where Marian spent her final year.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations may be made in her name to Salem Lutheran Church.
