Marilyn Corrine Ramlo was born February 3, 1938, in Decorah, Iowa, the daughter of Howard and Gladys (Foss) Ramlo. Marilyn was baptized and confirmed at Decorah Lutheran Church in Decorah. She attended Decorah High School, graduating with the class of 1956. She then attended Luther College, graduating with the class of 1960. She obtained her Master's degree at the School of Social Work, University of Iowa in 1962.Marilyn accepted a position at Lutheran Social Services in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and served in various positions there for over forty years. She managed the Greater Milwaukee Area Outpatient Mental Health and AODA Services, Kinship Refugee, Keefe Outreach, Southside Wellness and Pre-Marriage Workshops in the greater Milwaukee area. Marilyn also maintained an active counseling caseload. She was a state-certified mental health and AODA counselor and an ongoing member of NASW and ACSW.Marilyn became a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Milwaukee in 1964 where she served as president, comptroller and stewardship chair, as well as on other committees. Marilyn's faith was important to her and a sustaining force in her life. A favorite Bible passage was "This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it".Marilyn left for her eternal home on Monday, September 21, 2009 at Luther Manor in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, at the age of 71 from complications of multiple myeloma.She was preceded in death by her parents; her infant sister, Mavis Ramlo, and her brother, Peter Ramlo on March 20, 2002; as well as by Irene Fox, for whom Marilyn was a volunteer guardian for 26 years.Marilyn is survived by her brothers, Bernell (Mildred) Ramlo of Decorah, Iowa and Clarion (Barbara) Ramlo of Oelwein, Iowa; her nephews and niece; Randy (Lisa) Ramlo of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Terry Ramlo of Decorah, Iowa, Brenda Ramlo of Colorado Springs, Colorado, David Ramlo of Dillion, Colorado, Robert Ramlo of Laramie, Wyoming, and Mark (Jessica) Ramlo of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and six grand-nephews and nieces; Eric, Samantha, Alexa, Connor, Sophia and Sylvia.
