Mark D. Biehl passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, age 85. Mark was the only child of Mark and Esther Biehl of Wauwatosa, Wis. He attended Wauwatosa high school and UW-Madison medical school. While doing an internship at Philadelphia General Hospital he met a nurse named Geraldine who became the love of his life and wife of over 50 years. Mark served as a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Public Health Service division of the Coast Guard. He was a founding member of the Psychiatric Associates of Milwaukee and co-director of Waukesha Memorial Hospital’s Psychiatric Services. Mark is survived by daughter, Katherine, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mark’s adventurous spirit led he and Gerry to a lifetime of worldwide explorations and adventures from camel riding to scuba diving. His sense of style, love of ornate interiors and lush natural surroundings reflected his exquisite taste and passion for collecting. He exercised his artistic side and creative spirit through painting, jewelry making, cooking and poetry. Mark was known to be quick-witted, had a boisterous laugh and a flare for exuberant outbursts. Mark will be remembered for his generosity and for being a kind and empathetic soul. Most importantly, Mark was a loving and devoted husband and father.
Visitation will be held at Krause Funeral Home, 12401 West National Avenue, New Berlin, WI 53151, on Saturday, June 3, 2023, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM followed by a Sharing of Remembrances at 12:00 PM.
Mark loved flowers and suggested the following charities for donations in his honor: Doctors Without Borders, Smile Train, Salvation Army and Planned Parenthood.
