The Life of Marvin E. BoederAnd baby makes four! Joining his older brother Norbert, Marvin E. Boeder was born to Erwin A. Boeder and Daisy M. Boeder (nee Koepsell) on April 11, 1925, was baptized as a child of God by the Reverend Arnold Hoeneke at St. Paul's Lutheran Church " West Allis on May 9, 1925, and was confirmed in his faith to his Lord by the Reverend Karl Ries on April 10, 1938. He graduated from Nathan Hale High School in 1943.He was inducted into military service on July 17, 1943 and received training at the AAFFGS, Tyndall Field, Florida and AAFBS, Big Spring, Texas, completing his navigational bombardier training on January 6, 1945. He proudly served active duty for his country as Flight Officer during World War II in the Army Air Forces from January 6, 1945 through December 4, 1945. He was joined in marriage with the love of his life, Gertrude Louise Ries, on October 12, 1947. Together they had three children, Karl, Susan and Debra. They enjoyed taking their children skating and sledding in the winter, and camped and traveled throughout the States during their vacations.He enjoyed serving his Lord at Divine Shepherd Lutheran Church " Milwaukee as usher, elder and treasurer, and always carried a small silver cross in his pocket to remind him of his salvation through our Savior Jesus Christ. His hobby was handyman to family, friends and neighbors. He could be counted on by all to do plumbing, electrical, and carpentry jobs, yard work, and babysat the children so the women could go shopping in peace. In keeping with his hobby interests, he built a garage with the help of his brothers-in-law and drew the plans for an addition to his house when more living space was needed. His professions included working at a glass and mirror company, draftsman for a lumber company, postal worker and fire fighter, among other odd jobs. After he retired January 17, 1981 from the West Allis Fire Department with over 25 years of service, they enjoyed being Texas "snowbirds", traveling to Texas for the winter and returning to Wisconsin in the spring.They were the greatest parents anyone could have, and their children thank God every day for being so blessed!
