(Nee Byrnes) Age 87. Entered God's loving arms April 6, 2010, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. She was born January 30, 1923 to James and Mae Byrnes in Winfield Township, Sauk County. Beloved wife of the late Bernard Horkan. Cherished mother of Debra Horkan. Grandmother of Chad (Christine) Horkan and Garrett Horkan. Great grandmother of Cassie, Tanner and Cole Horkan. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Emmett and Kenneth Byrnes. Deeply loved by her many caregivers and friends. She will be especially missed by her dog, Sadie. Mary Agnes was a devoted educator whose teaching career spanned 58 years. She graduated from Sauk County Normal School in Reedsburg. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in education from UW-LaCrosse in 1953, a Master's Degree in elementary education from UW-Madison in 1958, and a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in educational administration from UW-Madison in 1986.Visitation at the Funeral Home – Saturday, April 10, 3-5 PM – followed by a candlelight prayer service. Visitation also at St Mary Catholic Church, 225 S. Hartwell Ave., Waukesha, Monday 9:30-10 AM Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM. Burial Calvary Cemetery Reedsburg Monday 3 PM.
