Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. Philippians 2:3-4
Mary went home and was reunited with her son, Daniel Steven Burhop, on Saturday, May 16, 2020, at age 85. Mary was a Teacher, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and a beloved and devoted wife of Ed Burhop for 57 years. She was a woman with a strong faith in Jesus Christ, hope for the future, love for everyone, and a humility that never ceased to amaze those who knew her. She embodied Philippians 2:3-4 in the way she lived her life and treated others. Mary was a special person, loved by all for her soft demeanor, compassion, and quick wit. She was born and raised in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She attended college at New Mexico State University, becoming the first member of her family to get a Bachelor’s Degree, in education. She was teaching in Alamogordo, NM when she met Ed and after a long courtship, married him and moved to Wisconsin. After spending many years raising and nurturing her family, she worked with special needs children at Oconomowoc High School. She loved to be with family and to travel. In their adventures, she and Ed traveled all over Europe and other parts of the world.
