I just read in the MALC meeting minutes of Mary Jo's passing. I met Mary Jo my first day of employment for CWA Local 5500. I was going up the stairs and she was coming down. My first thought was "What a beautiful woman". As I learned, she was beautiful inside as well as out. I'll always remember our road trip to Oklahoma. What a blast. Even though I have been out of touch for many years, I have often thought of Mary Jo. Her kindness, her intelligence, her love for family and friends. I wish God had made more like Mary Jo. Rest in Peace my friend and mentor.

I worked with Mary Jo at the Telephone Co. and, more importantly, at the Union. What I learned from her example was to find your passion and fight for it. This is advise we can all use, especially in the next 4 years. It is somehow fitting that Mary Jo passed during Black History Month. She was a champion of just causes, a community leader and a stellar model for all she knew in her lifetime. She's with Mama Angie now and they are probably cooking up a storm, which could explain all the rare February thunder and lightening we've had of late! My sincerest condolences and deepest sympathies to Mary Jo's family. She was always so proud of you all. Remember, she lives on in you ...

My Auntie Mary Jo wasn't just my Auntie she was Auntie/Mama to all of her nieces and nephews. I'm going to miss taking my grandson over to the house to visit she taught him how to race. She would make him get ready get set then she would say ding, ding ding and he remembers what she taught him. The same thing for myself I would remember all she taught me. My Auntie was a strong phenomenal woman and I'm blessed to have known her for 49 years.I will miss the talks, knowledge and the laughter we had together. The storm is over Auntie now you can see your rainbow. R.I.P Love you always and forever.
