Michael D. Spellman 54, spent his last day doing what he loved most. Playing bass and socializing with friends.Mike started his musical career at the age of 16 in a garage band, he was very proud that his Mom bought him his first amp. Over the years he was the winner of 5 WAMI awards including Bassist of the Year, Sound man of the Year and for Country and Pop Bands of the Year, as well as being nominated for many other awards.Mike was a seasoned music veteran who for six years lived in Nashville and was a member of The Leavin' Brothers band. While in Nashville he shared the bill with many of the greats, he wrote music, and worked as a session musician. Mike also went to Europe and toured with Norwegian recording artist Tina Lie. Mike was proud to play with so many great players we could spend days listing all those he performed with. Currently he was a member of Geoff Landon and the Wolfpack, Ronnie Nyles and Talluah Who, and the Ron Kendricks band. Preceded in death by his mother Evelyn Spellman, Michael is survived by his father Larry (Winny) Spellman, brothers Ken, Brian (Lori), Andy (Natasha) and their children, and long time "partner and wife in spirit" Karen Raschke.Though we can no longer hear it… The music will go on.
