I want to share a story with everyone. Marie was my 4 year old teacher when I was the director of the Teaching Centers on Hwy 100. I truly loved the ways she would teach those precious little children. I treasured them when I became a Mom in 1981. That is when I became a "stay at home" Mom. I remember one year she had a child that whose parents were Jehovah Witnesses' .In fall she had him paint a pumpkin when others in her class created one with eyes, mouth, etc to make a jack-o-lantern.. He cried when he couldn't add them to his pumpkin. She did her best to explain it to him. I supported all she was trying to do to make the parents happy. Then they insisted he be removed from her room if anyone in her class was celebrating birthdays. I tried to explain state regulations when it came to the number of children per teacher in each room according to the child/teacher ratio and how that would not be possible . He did leave. Then Marie cried, she was so heartbroken and concerned for his future daycare experiences and hoped they could find a place that could be more flexible and not as full as we were. I returned for their annual program that Christmas ( Amy was born in December). I introduced her to Marie. We named her Amy Marie in honor of your Mom. She cried then too. I thank God for her love for children and dedication as a teacher to do her best for each of them. What a blessing for me to have her on my staff. I know God gave you many wonderful memories of all she did for others. What a wonderful example she was for me. Keeping you all in my prayers. Nancy Wangerin
