Taken too soon from those who loved him on November 16, 2012, at age 58, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Preceded in death by his mother, Marion Fisher. Beloved son of Richard G. Fisher and stepmother Lucy Fisher. Cherished brother of Mary Jo (John) Moch. Dear stepbrother of Carol (Russ) Setterlun, Barb Barry, Suzy (Jim) McCormick, George (Patti) Ruck and Michael (Kay) Ruck. Further survived by many other relatives and friends.Dr. Fisher studied at the University of Wisconsin " Madison, receiving his medical degree in 1985. He completed his residency at St. Mary's Hospital in Milwaukee with a specialization in Family Practice Medicine. Dr. Fisher began his career in Los Angeles, California, with Cigna as a Family Practice physician. In 1993, after his mother fell ill with cancer, he returned to Wisconsin, eventually setting up an independent practice in Milwaukee. Dr. Fisher enjoyed a successful practice here until his diagnosis with cancer in late August 2012.Dr. Fisher's chief respite from the rigors of medicine was his passion for music. He was an accomplished guitar, piano, and keyboard player. His repertoire included country, blues, rock, jazz and folk music. Over the years, Dr. Fisher played with a number of bands but more lately performed as a solo artist. He especially enjoyed entertaining at nursing homes, retirement homes and small theaters. Never too far removed from his work, his shows were enthusiastically attended by many of his patients. A special treat was the occasional inclusion of one of his original pieces. Dr. Fisher wrote and composed many of his own songs in his home studio. His personal works are posted on the website <a href="http://www.rickfischer.org" target="_blank">www.rickfischer.org</a>. "Rick" you offered so much and expected so little in return. You made the world a brighter place for so many. You will be sorely missed.Sincere thanks to Dr. Fisher's friends, colleagues, and patients for the outpouring of love, prayers and support dring his time of need.The family wishes to thank the physicians and caring staffs at Froedtert Hospital, St. Luke's Hospital and Aurora VNA Zilber Family Hospice. A private interment will be held at Resurrection Cemetery.
