Mr.H you are truly missed. I walk into the building pass the gym just hoping to see you there and hear you say hey Kid. To have our morning chats, lunches, chatting more while I accompanied you with the kindergartners in gym class was the best parts of my day. I’m glad we spoke and kept in touch this summer. You made a great impact on the staff at Elm as well as the students. You’ll always have a special place in my heart. Thanks for all the advice and help you provided over the years. Love alway “Kid”.
Warnetta Johnson left a message on September 9, 2023:
Coach will truly misses. He would greet me every morning as I walked in the door. He spoiled me and the entire staff with treats. I told him he was gonna make me fat and we would laugh. I will truly miss the laughter he brought into the building. Rest Well Friend!

I have known Russ for nearly 37 years. We worked professionally together in MPS, and he remained a friend for all those years. Please accept my sympathy and may light perpetually shine upon him as his memory is for a blessing!
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
Joe Pawlitsch left a message on August 31, 2023:
My deepest condolences to Russell‘s family and friends. Russell and I were close in high school. We both played on the football team and I enjoyed watching Russ play basketball. We recently reconnected and we had a great conversation. Given Russ’s outgoing personality, knowledge, and sports abilities, it makes perfect sense that he would become affectionately known as the “Coach”. God Bless. Joe Pawlitsch

I miss you. I miss hearing your voice. I miss your words of encouragement reminding me that you were proud of me and everything I was doing. I miss the “love ya kiddos” and thoughts of more meals shared together. Out of the most difficult of times I have been through, you showed up, more than ever, as you do for everyone you care about. Thank you for being a part of my life and showing me you truly cared about me, although I was not one of your own. You’re one of the good ones. And I’m blessed to have known you.

I went to St. Ed's High School with Russ and was in a number of classes with him. I enjoyed watching him play both football and basketball and totally enjoyed his companionship. Although I have not spoken to him recently, the last time was at one of our high school reunions, I will truly miss a significant member of our class of 1968.

I went to high school with Russ & played football & basketball with him. Together we made some terrific memories. Over the past 5 years, I talked with him about every 2 weeks. I can honestly say, as a true friend of his, he will be deeply missed & thought of often. Rest in peace my old friend....Ken (class of '68)
