Samuel Quincy Moore was born on October 1, 1950, to the proud parents Sam Clinton & Jeanetta Juanita Moore, both of whom proceeded him in death. Samuel was the third of five children. He gave his life to Christ at an early age by uniting with and baptizing at the historical Second Baptist Church of Detroit, Michigan.
Samuel received his education in the Detroit Public School system; first attending Angel Elementary where he became one of the first group of black children to be bussed to Oak Park, Michigan for school integration. He then attended McMichael Junior High School and subsequently graduated from Northwestern High School (the Big N-O).
At Northwestern, Samuel followed the example of his brother McCoy playing football as a guard on offense and linebacker on defense thus acquiring the nickname, “BEAST”. He had a love for ALL sports, including hockey where as a child he, his brother Charles, cousins Victor and Cornell, and their friends would spend hours in the basement holding hockey tournaments, backyard basketball games, and baseball games on Jamieson Elementary school’s playground. He also had a love for the card game, Bid Whist (Rise and Fly!) with many nights of fun card playing in the lower flat he and his brother Charles shared as roommates.
Samuel furthered his education by attending Lewis College of Business. He eventually secured a position with The City of Detroit where he advanced to the position of Supervisor of Medical Records at Detroit Receiving Hospital. Samuel had an 11-year career with the City of Detroit from 1969 to 1980. In June of 1980, he relocated to Milwaukee, WI because he had met the love of his life, Charlotte Jones who lived next door to his brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Gloria Moore.
Because of the love that they shared one for another, Samuel, Charlotte, and her two children, Allison Rene and Kevin Thomas became a family through marriage. Four years later, on Valentine’s Day, the stork made a surprise visit to the Moore family and dropped off a beautiful bouncing baby girl Courtney Elizabeth Michelle.
Samuel settled into his new life in Milwaukee and began a career working for the City of Milwaukee Water Works as well as a manager for Church’s Chicken. He would often brag that Church’s has the best chicken out of all the Milwaukee chicken franchises. It was his joy to cook and serve up Church’s chicken for family events and events at his church. Samuel was a member of the Providence Baptist Church and for a number of years affiliated with Providence’s Love Society. In May of 2012, he retired from the City of Milwaukee Water Works. After becoming ill in January of 2017, Samuel made the decision to also retire from Church‘s.
Along with his parents Sam Clinton Moore and Jeanetta Juanita Moore, his brothers Gene Moore and McCoy Moore also preceded Samuel in death.
In addition to Charlotte, Allison Renee Bethune of San Antonio, TX, Courtney Elizabeth Michelle Moore, and Kevin Thomas Jones both of Milwaukee, WI, Samuel leaves to cherish his memory his son-in-law Eddie Bethune of San Antonio, TX, brother, Charles Moore, and his wife Jacqueline of Detroit, MI, sister, Juanita Jeffries and her husband Terrence of Detroit, MI, sister-in-law Gloria Moore of Milwaukee, WI (Gloria was the wife of the late Gene Moore), sister-in-law Joanne Moore (McCoy) of Detroit, MI (Joanne was the wife of the late McCoy Moore), sister-in-law Dorinda Bond and her husband Larry of South Bend, IN, sister-in-law, Jeanie Jenkins of Avon, IN and brother-in-law, Reverend Delbert Watkins and his wife Kalendria of Durham, NC.
