Some of my favorite memories of my mom, were the many trips we took to Michigan together. My mother was never a long distance driver, and after my dad passed she needed a way to get across the Big Lake to visit my sisters. I started taking her and eventually it became a yearly event. She would always offer to pay for the boat ride on the SS Badger on our return trip home, so I wouldn't be driving the six hours there and back. Our conversations to Michigan were always filled with spiritual, relational, worldly and comical subjects. On the boat home we would participate in the bingo and entertainment they had to offer. It was wonderful to see my sisters and even better for me to see how much my mom enjoyed her visit with them. On every trip she would tell me what an excellent driver I was. She would also say we were such compatible travelers. These are times I will always treasure in my heart.
