Sister of the Divine Savior Diane Goetzinger, SDS (formerly) Sr. Mary Louis, was born November 28, 1939 in Milwaukee. After graduating from Mother of Good Counsel School, she entered the Sisters of the Divine Savior and was professed in 1958. Sister Diane attended Alverno College where she received a BS in Education. As an elementary teacher, Sister Diane taught for almost 20 years in parish schools in Maryland, Wisconsin and at St. Pius X School in Wauwatosa. Following her teaching career, Sister Diane served as coordinator for the retired Salvatorian sisters for 11 years. In 1991 she joined the staff at Mother of Good Counsel parish in the position of Outreach to the Elderly and Homebound. She was the staff liaison to the St. Vincent de Paul Social Concerns Committee and served as their spiritual director for several years. Sister Diane was also a Board member of Northwest Interfaith. For 10 years she coordinated the St. Ben’s Meal Program for the Salvatorians. In recent months, Sisters Diane’s health gradually declined.
She entered eternal life on Sunday, October 8, at St. Luke’s Hospital, surrounded by several Salvatorian sisters. Sister Diane was preceded in death by her parents Henry & Marcia (Giese) Goetzinger, and brothers-in-law Elmore Draeger and Max Lukasavitz. She is survived by her sisters Joyce Lukasavitz, Janice Draeger and brothers Thomas (Betty), Louis (Karen), nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews and the Salvatorian Family.
Visitation will begin on Friday, October 13, 2017 at 12:15 PM at St. Anne’s Salvatorian Campus Chapel, 3800 North 92nd Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A Remembering service will begin at 1:00 PM and the Mass of Christian Burial will follow. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, 7301 West Nash Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 9:00 AM, Saturday, October 14, 2017.
