Cancer took over in the end but not before a steadfast fight from Terry guided by the grace of God that put him on the winning side for a few great years in his retirement.
His work in social services spanned over 40 years in hospital and community settings. Along the way he received his master’s degree in clinical counseling and became a licensed clinical social worker. Throughout his career he dedicated himself to helping people, especially those struggling with mental health and substance abuse challenges. Those who grew up with him or got to know him saw and experienced the humor, compassion, and empathy that lay just beneath his sometimes tough exterior. He genuinely cared about people, he loved his family and friends, and was fiercely loyal.
He enjoyed listening to music, getting together with friends and family, watching sports, and playing golf.
Due to COVID, Terry’s celebration of life service will be a private event held on Saturday, February 27, 2021, at Krause Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to The Aurora Zilber Family Hospice or American Cancer Society.
