Betty (who was single when we met) and I have been friends for 40 years .... rare these days to have a friend for decades. Tom came into her life shortly after we met and from the get go, it was obvious no one could (or would) love her more. Tom had a certain look when Betty was in his sight line and his hand was never far away from hers. He always let Betty's light shine brighter than his when in a public setting, and yet, you always knew where you stood with Tom!! They finished each other's sentences and yet, with just a look, often no words needed to be spoken for them to communicate. Betty and Tom were the type of friends that even if we went too long in between our visits, it would take all but 5 minutes to be all caught up in order for new memories to begin. Tom accepted his many health challenges with grace and would give us a shrug of his shoulder when faced with a new challenge. With some days harder than others, Betty and Tom daily, lived out the "I do" part of marriage. Yes, a life has ended and yet we know, Betty's love for Tom will never end. We were blessed to have Betty and Tom as dear friends.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you with the loss of Tom. There are few couples in our lives that we've enjoyed knowing and who are so giving. It's hard to conceive Betty without Tom or Tom without Betty. God blessed you both bringing you together to share this precious time and life on earth. Our hearts are heavy with your loss, but a little less so knowing there's grace in knowing our Savior, and comfort in knowing there's a special place in Heaven for those who love God, love people and share their faith - which both of you have lived out everyday of your lives. I'm sure our Creator has wrapped his arms around Tom and welcomed him home where there's no pain, no sickness and all is peace and love.
