I too went through school with Tom, who was a natural in sports. I also went to Washington Elementary, had weak ankles, always had hockey skates, and I claim the title as worst ice skater in class. I remember a race where Tom showed up with his dad's racing skates, and he was almost flying at Mach 2 around the ice. We grew up in a great era for kids, and Tom was always good at whatever sport he chose.

So sorry to learn of Tommy’s death. Like Jack, I remember those ice skating races on the playground rink at Washington Elementary. I finished last every year. I was the only one with hockey skates, not to mention weak ankles! Tommy was a charismatic guy and a great athlete all the way through Tosa East High. Our families both lived in the Washington Highlands, along with Pete Vollmer, another great athlete who attended Washington School. I was a perennial bench warmer, but Tommy, Pete, and I remained friends through graduation from East in 1966. We played endless backyard buckets in Doc Seifert’s back yard! After I failed to make the Varsity BB team in my senior year, Tommy helped a group of us failed b-ballers get sponsored by his father Earl Easton to play for Easton’s Beer Depot (near City Park/ a/k/a Hart Park) in the Industrial League. Tommy was always one of the most popular guys in our class. His sister Jackie was older — a neat lady. Always nice to Tommy’s friends. Left Tosa in ‘66 for college and never looked back. Just happened to come across this after Badgers’ tournament reminded me of the Raiders’ 1965 loss to Cumberland at States. Tommy was part of that team that went on to win the “Consolation Championship!” Rest In Peace my friend from decades ago!

I went to Washington Elementary School from K-5 in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Every year @ Washington School they'd flood the parking lot and then have ice skating. Each year they had races based on grades or ages, I think, and it was 3 times around to find out the winner(s). It was our last winter in Wauwatosa (before my family moved to Scottsdale, Arizona). We had figure skates, and I still wanted to be the fastest. My competitors were all boys, among whom was my friend, Tommy Easton (who had me for an overnight sleepover once). But he was the only one with racer skates on. I was leading the first 2 laps but he was catching up fast. Then on the last turn, he took a spill, and man did he slide for a long way because he was going so fast! But I won. I continued to live for sports, girls, and getting good grades in school. But then my grandmother flew out to AZ from Wauwatosa and took my younger sister, Judy, and me to a Billy Graham Crusade. Billy introduced me to Jesus as he said, "We've all sinned and fallen short of God's glory." Consequently, "the wages of sin is death." Jesus died as our substitute to take that death penalty upon himself--"God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners." But then this doesn't mean everybody goes to heaven. "Everyone who calls on the Lord will be saved." That's what I did in that evangelistic campaign. And I've been a changed man ever since! Now I know I am going to heaven based upon God's Word, the Bible. Trust Jesus ALONE for your salvation, not your goodness (your good deeds) like I was doing for my first 16 years of life. Then you too could know for sure that you will go to heaven.

Tom was our neighbor for over 14 years. We are so sorry to hear he passed and hope the last few years since he moved were good to him. He was always so nice and shared his love of cars with our son. May he rest in peace. Our condolences to the family.

I was so sorry to hear about Tom’s death. Tom was the custodian at Jefferson Elementary School where I taught. We had many conversations after school in my room. I always enjoyed our talks. In addition to this, Tom was in Indian Guides with my brother-in-law (Bill Clark) and their dads over 60 years ago. They played sports against each other in high school...Tom at Tosa East and Bill at Tosa West. Tom was a good man! I had been trying to find where he had moved to visit or call him to see how he was doing. Sorry that did not happen. I am really disappointed that I could not attend to pay tribute to him.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
