Veatrice Blackman was born September 2, 1943, to the union of Mayme Franklin and Claude Stinson in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was the oldest of two children. Veatrice received her formal education at Messmer High School.
She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age at St. Francis.
Veatrice also known as “Vea” was employed as a secretary for Dr. Arthur Sanders for about 10 years. She was employed with Curative for 25 years and during this time. Vea and her husband owned and operated Mister’s Par3 Nostalgia Lounge from 1984 until 2005. She was also a caregiver to her mother for several years. Vea retired from Curative in 2012. After retirement Vea spent most of her time volunteering and taking care of others.
Vea was known for her outgoing personality and talkative nature. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved watching all her favorite T.V. shows and cheering on the Bucks. One of Vea’s favorite pastimes was shopping! Vea could shop for several hours, often until the store’s closing time. She was the life of the party and talked to any and everyone. She was a great wife, mother and grandmother who will be truly missed by all who came in contact with her.
Veatrice departed this life on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by: parents, Mayme (Elmer) Franklin and Claude Stinson; four aunts; one uncle; and one nephew.
She leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Claude Blackman; son Marvin (Cherethea) Blackman; grandchildren Londyn, Lawson and Logan; brother LaMarr (Lynda) Franklin; niece Monique (James) Graham; and a host of family and friends.
A Celebration of the Life will take place at 11:00 AM, followed by a Service at 12:00 PM on Friday, March 17, 2023 at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 1927 Vel R. Phillips Avenue, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Father Mike Bertram, OFM Capuchin officiating.
