Of Brookfield. Born to Eternal Life March 11, 2009, age 79. He married his high school sweetheart, Dona M. (Nee Mergener) on August 19, 1950. Preceded in death by his parents, William C. and Lorraine M. (nee Hafmeister), and his brother, Robert (Nancy) Eckhardt. Bill is survived by his wife Dona, sister Marion (Rene) Hauser, and brother Kenneth W. (Susanne) Eckhardt. Also survived by 10 nephews and nieces, many friends, neighbors and special family friend, Phyllis Pease. Bill graduated from Custer High School and earned his Engineering Degree from M.A.T.C. Bill joined the Naval Reserve in 1947, and was honorably discharged in 1958. Bill worked at Lakeside Bridge and Steel for 44 years, retiring as a Contract Manager. He later served as Vice-President for Sales at Middle West Manufacturing. Bill was also active for 56 years in the Brown Deer Men's Golf Club, and was honored by the establishment with an annual tournament in his name. He was also active in the Waukesha County Stroke Club and enjoyed his morning coffee with the McDonald's Seniors. His activities included golf, bowling, cross country skiing and wood carving with small animals as a specialty. Thanks to Dr. William Lutz, Dr. Gilberto Rodriguez and the supporting doctors and medical personnel who gave Bill an extra 20 years following his first stroke. Visitation at SAINT DOMINIC CATHOLIC CHURCH, 18255 West capitol Drive, Brookfield, on Monday March 16, 10:30 – 12:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial 12:00 PM.
