Attending a Service

If you have any questions on the appropriateness of your attendance, call Krause Funeral Homes. Our staff is available to help however we can.

A Well-Mannered and Supportive Guest

Funerals often include more than one gathering: a viewing or visitation, memorial service, burial and reception. Attend all or one depending on your relationship with the family of the deceased.

Below is additional information to consider when attending a funeral:

  • Sign the register book at the visitation or funeral. Be sure to write legibly and include your affiliation, if appropriate.
  • The first several rows are typically reserved for immediate family, so be sure to sit in an appropriate seat at the funeral.
  • Greet the family members at either your arrival or departure. Offer a hug or shake of hands, depending on your relationship. Your support is soothing during this difficult time.
  • Adhere to parking protocol when attending the funeral. If the graveside service follows the funeral, our staff will help guide cars into a line and add a funeral procession flag to your car. Please keep your lights on during the processional.
