Surrounded by her family, Joy found peace with God on Wednesday, November 4th, 2020 at age 54 after 2.5 years of battling colorectal cancer. Devoted wife of Curtis for 23 years and cherished mother of Cassandra, Jack and Alexander. Beloved daughter of Diane and the late Dino Koukouras, special sister of Gena and brother William Koukouras, and amazing aunt to nephew Dino and niece Sophia. Dear daughter-in-law to the late Linda and Jack Johnson, loving sister-in-law of Jacqueline and Richard Ove. And loved by many aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends.
Born in Milwaukee, Joy attended West Milwaukee High School and received her bachelor’s degree in Journalism at the University of Wisconsin—Milwaukee. Joy’s dedication went beyond her husband, children, family and friends, it drove her career at bvk as the V.P. of Promotions & Sponsorships for 23 years. Joy’s true passion was towards the relationships that she built and shared with many. She cherished and held each memory close to her heart and brought light and bliss into the many lives that she touched. She truly lived up to her name: pure Joy.
Joy’s most valued accomplishments in her life were her children, devoted to shaping them into well-rounded, faithful individuals. She enjoyed attending her children’s sporting events and performances, always the proudest mother in the room. Joy was truly the strongest woman, “Strong Like Bull” and had the determination to never give up. Her heart filled with the greatest love for her family and friends, her desires to watch her children grow, someday hold her grandchildren and live a long, beautiful life with her husband are what gave her the strength to endure many obstacles. Joy’s spirit will always be present in the lives she touched. She is an inspiration to all and will be an eternal memory.
The family of Joy would like to share a special thank you to the ProHealth Care D.N.G. Cancer Center team of Dr. Raza for the exemplary care they provided her throughout the past 2.5 years. Their guidance, support and compassion allowed Joy to flourish throughout the remainder of her life.
