Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on December 29, 1927, Alice peacefully departed earthly life on May 6, 2020. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Greg Kaldunski, and her siblings Roy, Vernette, and Marion. Mom is survived by her children Rich (Barb), Don (Jean), Jean (John), and her sister Anna. Grandchildren are Ben (Anne), Danielle (Charlie), Jamie (Shaun), Denise (Matt), and Jake; and great-grandson Jack.
Alice ventured to Milwaukee, Wisconsin with her best friend and sister Vernette in 1949. She met Greg while visiting relatives in Winona, MN. Fascinated by her Canadian accent, Greg proposed in July 1950. They married May 5, 1951, at Sacred Heart Church in Pine Creek, WI. Alice and Greg were devoted partners and parents residing in Milwaukee all their married lives. They were long time members of St. Margaret Mary Catholic church.
Alice and Greg enjoyed their retirement years traveling the country, visiting all 50 states, and following the Milwaukee Brewers. Alice always had faith that St. Christopher would keep them safe in their travels. What started with the prize of a hand-painted ceramic owl at ladies’ card club grew into her unique collection of owl souvenirs. She was drawn to eclectic art and craft. Mom’s simple but tasty homemade meals inspire daughter Jean in her own cooking, for “No one made a tastier beef stew or glazed Easter ham than Mom!”
Alice spent her last years at St. Anne’s Salvatorian Campus where she found new friends and received comforting care and support for which her children are very grateful.
We will miss her tremendously.
