Anthony R. Hapka, (Tony) 86, New Berlin (West Allis) entered peacefully into eternal life on Monday, March 18th, 2019.
Beloved husband of Sharon; Treasured father to Lisa Bailey (Jim) and Joseph Hapka; Proud Papa to Miranda Bailey and Erin Bailey, Dear Grampa Tony to Sheri Rockwell (Corey) and two great-grandchildren (Nora and Max).
Cherished brother-in-law to Shirley Hapka and Sharlene Chapman, Special Uncle and God Father to many nieces and nephews – and many other family members and friends.
Tony was preceded in death by parents; his sister, Jenny (Carl) Thorton; his brothers Julius, Robert, Daniel, and John; and his niece, Judy Thorton – Chapman.
Tony served his country as a member of the Army during the Korean War.
A graduate of Whitewater High School and MSOE, Tony proudly worked for General Motors (AC Delco) for over 35 years until his retirement in 1992. Through his work as an Engineer, he contributed to projects including Leadership in running the standards Lab, writing crucial test procedures and even worked on the Apollo 11 project.
Nearly 27 years of retirement afforded Tony the opportunity to devote his time, attention and energy to his family, who have always been his priority. “There is always time to learn and explore.”
The extraordinary love shared between Tony and his wife Sharon, who would have celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on May 10th of this year, was a beautiful example of joy, support, humor, care, faith, trust, hard work and appreciation, that was obvious to anyone who knew them.
The infinite amount of love, time and attention he willingly gave to his children and grandchildren fostered a curiosity and sense of security, that allowed us to have an appreciation for nature and learning, and the confidence to believe we could accomplish even the most challenging goals.
Numerous hobbies and areas of interest included electronics, gardening, health and wellness, sporting activities; including a well-developed talent in bowling, which earned him a spot on the televised program Bowling with the Champs.
Tony lived his life with an open mind, kindest heart and never-ending faith – setting an example in how to be patient, loving and kind.
