(Nee Barker) Entered God’s loving arms, Tuesday, August 20, 2019, with her family by her side. Beloved wife of Alex, Jr. Dear mother of John (Kathleen), Carol (Grant), Betty (Dave), Kathy (Debbie), Alex III. Loved by 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends. Arabelle is proceeded in death by her son Bernard, grandson Michael and brothers Ed and Dan.
Arabelle was born in Menominee Michigan to the late Howard and Edna Barker. Arabelle attended Menominee High School and then Northwestern University in Illinois receiving her Bachelors of Science in Nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse.
While attending college Arabelle met Alex Jr. and was married to the love of her life for 65 years. They raised their children in New Berlin WI and have lived there for 61 years.
She was a great storyteller, a gift she inherited from her father. She had a large garden that she lovingly took care of and enjoyed canning the vegetables it produced. A devout Catholic and member of the Holy Apostles Catholic Church parish for over 58 years. Volunteered her time as one of the “heavenly dusters” who helped keep the church clean. She was a loving and caring person who enjoyed helping others. She would give anyone the shirt off her back if they needed it. One of her passions later in life was shopping for others. She was such a generous person who loved to shop for clothing and furniture for her children, grandchildren, and friends. If there was a bargain she could find it! The thing that she was the most proud of besides her children was her cottage. Hosting the annual family picnic at the cottage was one of the things Arabelle cherished. She loved to watch the waves, walk the beach and put her feet in the sand. She would reminisce about when her kids were young and enjoyed playing in the water and how it was so special to see the grandkids enjoying the same things.
She was a devoted grandmother and cherished being able to spend time with the grandkids, often having the kids line up giving each one a dollar for their bank. Arabelle was a thoughtful and precious woman who will always be loved, remembered and missed by her family and friends.
