Died peacefully, surrounded by family on November 14, 2018, at the age of 88. A humble, generous, hard-working German immigrant, who, together with his wife of 57 years, chiseled out a good life for his family of six in the St. Benedict neighborhood of Chicago. He was a member of the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters, and the U.B.C. for over 50 years. He is survived by his wife Trudy; children Caroline (Jack), Bernard, Christian (Susan), Stephen; eight grandchildren; and sister Christine. Private services and burial will be held in WI. The family would like to thank the staff at Brookfield Rehab and Ascension Hospice for their care. Memorials directed to the Chicago Catholic Kolping Society, 5826 N. Elston Ave, Chicago, IL 60046, greatly appreciated.
