Betty Jean McCargo

Peacefully went home to the Lord on November 24, 2017 at age 88. She is survived by her devoted daughter Kathy, grandson Shawn (Ashley), great-grandsons Patrick and Ryan. Sister Mary (Larry) Whittow and brother Howard Jarolimek. Mother-in-law of Lynda McCargo-Carden and Keith Carden. Aunt of Mike (Rose) Washburn. Family friends Donna Bradham, Suzanne Blad and Taran Radloff. Further survived by many relatives and friends. Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years Louis, cherished son Patrick R. McCargo, sister Adeline Washburn and brother Raymond Jarolimek.

Born on March 11, 1929 in Milwaukee. She was the middle of 5 children to Michael and Hazle. In 1946 she met Lou while roller skating and they married 2 years later. Betty enjoyed being a homemaker and loved to knit, crochet and sew. After raising her children she got her driver’s license and a position at Brown Deer bank where she worked for over 16 years.

Betty treasured her great-grandson’s visits. For years she was a volunteer for TV-6 charity events. She was an active member of her church for more than 50 years and served on the altar guild, assisted in the office and helped run the bake sales. Being a church quilter was special to her as she was involved in creating hundreds of quilts a year for those in need and where she made some of her closest friends. Along with Lou, they organized reunions for his L-3-5 Marine comrades and made more dear friends.

Visitation at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, 5214 West Luebbe Lane, Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Funeral Service 1:00 PM.
