Passed away peacefully on January 21, 2021 in Milwaukee, WI at the young age of 40. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 17 years, LaTasha M. Straughter (nee Johnikin). Devoted father of Courtney R. Straughter and Caleb R. Straughter. Son of Frank and Toni L. Straughter. Brother of Nicole C. Straughter; Frank (Erin) Straughter; Michael A. Straughter. Grandson of Herman Washington and Rose Fowlkes. Son-in-law of Laura Johnikin. Also loved by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Chris was employed by Kroger previously known as Roundy’s Distribution Center, in Oconomowoc, WI since 1999. He was devoted to his career and thought of Roundy’s as his second home where his colleagues became less like friends and more like family. He was a proud teamster and loved his Brothers.
Chris loved to play football. He coached various teams and loved to watch, cheer, and coach his son. The Pittsburgh Steelers was his favorite team. In his leisure, he enjoyed shooting pool, playing dominoes, going to the gun range and loved riding his motorcycle. Later in life he also enjoyed playing golf.
Chris received his formal education in Milwaukee Private and Public School systems and graduated from Alexander Hamilton High School, home of the Wildcats, in 1998; Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Chris was well liked and popular in high school. He was Prom King in 1997 and was also voted “Most Athletic”. He received many accolades as a wide receiver on the football team including All- State and All-Conference as a Cornerback. Being athletic, he also participated on the track and swim team.
Chris accepted Christ into his life at a young age and later joined Evangel Assembly of God under the leadership of Pastor Jay Fischer. Chris admired and truly loved Pastor Jay. He appreciated his advice and guidance. They often spoke of their relationship in Christ and talked through any situation or concern.
