As being one of the first members of SWAT in 82’ for over 10 years. I can not say enough how much Coach Dale helped shape me into the man I am today. Truly a great coach and mentor. I was lucky enough to catch back up with Dale as my son swam high school couple years back. Dale will be missed by many.

We met Dale for the first time about 28 years ago when our eldest, Tom, took swim lessons through SWAT. SWAT taught Tom and our younger boy Philip how to competently swim, where other programs had only played at it. We saw Dale and talked to him this last summer at Wilson Park Pool when Tom's twins, age 5, took swim lessons too. He was the same old Dale, friendly, talking about competitive swimming, and his family. Devoted family man, dedicated swim coach, good Christian, and an all around fine person. You couldn't help but be a better person having known Dale. He will be sorely missed.

I was saddened to learn of the passing of my old friend and fellow "guppy" Dale Shrank. We swam together and competed together at GHS for three seasons. Dale was in the class (71’) a year ahead of me. We both swam the butterfly stroke. Years later, I would run into Dale at the Girl's sectional swim meets since I was the head girls' swim coach at Catholic Memorial High School. It was always good to chat with Dale. He loved the sport of swimming and shared that love with so many children and teens throughout the years. He was also quite the organizer and promoter for both recreational and competitive swimming. Honestly though, I think Dale most enjoyed strategizing on swim lineups, and juggling swimmers around, to win close swim meets. That may have been one of his greatest talents. I also know he was a conservative and God-fearing man and for that I also admired him. I also know Dale was so proud that he was married to the same women all these years. My thoughts and prayers go out to his wife Melody and Dale's siblings Barbara, Mark, and Lee.

As a swimmer years ago, I'll never forget the coach's loud whistle as I swam the race. Thanks for your support and guidance during my younger years. Rest in Peace Coach!! You have helped many young people not just in the pool but in their walk in life's journey. May the Lord bless the family.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
