Edward Stepanek

Passed away peacefully on July 2, 2018, at age 93. Beloved husband of the late Gloria (nee Pluck). Dear father of Peggy (Jack) McCormick and Patty (Mike) Raschig. Proud grandfather of Shannon (Mike) Mooney. Great-grandfather of Morgan and Matthew Mooney. Special friend of Donald “Shrimp”, Rose and Dorothy. Also loved and will be missed by additional family and friends.

In 1942 Ed enlisted in the US Navy and after basic training at Great Lakes, IL, was assigned to the destroyer USS Claxton DD571 of the Little Beaver Squadron. He served in the South Pacific and was involved in several battles and rescues including the Battle of Cape St. George and the Battle of Leyte Gulf. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He was a member of Legion Post 406 and VFW Gross-Yaksh 6498 Post.

Ed was a member of the Sokol Club of Milwaukee, enjoyed golfing, photography, playing the clarinet, attending many naval reunions and spending time with his family.

Ed’s family would like to thank the staff at Vitas Hospice for their care and support.

Visitation at Krause Funeral Home, 9000 West Capitol Drive, Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Funeral Service at 12:00 PM. Interment at Wisconsin Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin.
