Eugene “Gene” John Flory, 82, of Milwaukee went home to Heaven on May 11, 2021. He was born to the late Eugene and Mathilda (Zellmer) Flory on February 6, 1939, in Milwaukee, WI. Gene married his grade school sweetheart, Karen Mende, on October 10, 1959. Gene worked at Spector Freight for 25 years and then worked in the maintenance department at Concordia University for 18 years before his retirement in 2001. He was a longtime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church before joining Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. Gene enjoyed woodworking, painting, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends.

 

Gene will be missed by his wife, Karen, of 61 years and their children, Sharon (Neil) Boettcher, Debbie (Keith) Oxendorf; Janice (Jeff) Saxe, Barb (Bill) Gallagher, and David (Annie) Flory; grandchildren, Jim (Mandy) Prinz, Jeff (Alicia) Prinz, Steve (Jessica Nowak) Prinz, Michelle (Scott) Golden, Melissa (Justin) Yanke, Maria (Joel) Burseth, Megan (Jesse Schultz) Baltz, Samantha (Josh) Stodola, Alyssa (Ryan McCormick) Saxe, Billy Gallagher, Bryce Gallagher, Brody Gallagher, Christy (Andy) Braatz, Adam (Lisa) Boettcher, Liz (Andy) Garr, Kenny Oxendorf, Darrell (Nikki) Saxe, and Ryan (Michelle) Saxe; great-grandchildren, Riley, Bailey and Kenzey Prinz; Lexi (Mark) Mercanti, Brooke, Skott, and Devyn Golden; Ella and Nora Yanke; Amelia, Cole, Chelsea, and Aaron Braatz; Madasyn Gilbert; Sophia and Nolan Boettcher; Bynn, Pierce, and Sydney Garr; Connor Bonus; Evan and Arianna Saxe; Jayden Emanuele and Finley Saxe; nieces, nephews, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, brother, nephew, and brother-in-law.

 

The family will receive relatives and friends at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Drive, Brookfield from 1:00 PM – 3:45 PM on Sunday, May 16, 2021. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 PM at the funeral home by Rev. Michael Schleider and Rev. Mark Wangerin. Burial will take place at Wisconsin Memorial Park on Monday, May 17, 2021, at 11:00 AM.
