Also survived by his brother Helmut Sawall and sister Alma Schmidt. Ewald will be missed by many other family members and dear friends.
Preceded in death by his parents Reinhold and Elsa (nee Kautz) Sawall, brothers Harvey, Reinhard and Waldemar Sawall and sister Lilli Schottler.
Ewald was born in Nedbajwka, Ukraine. He immigrated to the United States in 1952 with his family. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee and went on to be a successful small business owner.
Ewald was enthusiastic about life. Fishing was a favorite past time for him, especially when spent with his children and grandchildren. Even more important to him was his relationship with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was very involved at Ridgewood Baptist Church for most of his adult life. Ewald was selfless, generous and tender-hearted, treating everyone he met with kindness, warmth and the love of Jesus. He will be missed by all.
Ewald was a proud US Army Veteran.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Ridgewood Baptist Mission Fund for the support of his brother in law, Gary Zabel, who is a missionary in Spain.
The family would especially like to thank the brilliant and kind Doctors, Nurses and Staff at Froedert Memorial Hospital as well as the Transplant Team at UW Madison for the incredible care that they have given him over the years. Ewald was a kidney transplant patient and because of a generous organ donation was able to share an additional 16 years of life with us.
