JoAnn Marie Varichak, 85, of Hubertus, WI passed away at home on April 21, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born January 24, 1938 in Duluth, MN to parents Joseph and Ann Antonich. She had 4 sons (Donald, Daniel, David, and Thomas) prior to meeting the love of her life, Eli Varichak, and marrying January 22, 1971. They moved to Milwaukee and together they had 1 daughter (AnnMarie), and “adopted” daughter Dawn.
JoAnn worked many years in the manufacturing sector. JoAnn loved to go on Eli’s boat and watch the kids and Eli fish, however the standing joke was when ma got in the boat the fish didn’t bite and the weather would turn stormy. She loved to bake cookies and breads, but mostly she enjoyed making 75 palacinke’s just to feed her family for breakfast. Camping with the family was something she truly enjoyed. In her heyday her and Eli would take their motorcycles to casino’s and play slots for hours or visit friends and play card games.Β After retiring and Eli passed away she enjoyed watching her grandkids grow up and taking vacations with family to AZ, FL, LA, MN, and many places in WI.
JoAnn was predeceased by her husband, Eli, her son, Daniel, and her granddaughter, Cara.
She is survived by her children; Donald (Leslie) Sobiech, David (Trina) Sobiech, Thomas (Missy) Sobiech, and AnnMarie Kramer, Dawn (James) Swanagan, her grandchildren; Tyana (Cooper) Casmer, Mandi (Adam) DeVries, Rene (Joel) Vaughan, Rebecca (Gus Perez) Sobiech , Alesha Sobiech, Heather (Greg) Hobbs, Naomi (Dion Shilka) Sobiech, Nikki Martinez, Devin Peters, Robert Kramer, Kaylee Kramer, Megan Bridges, Monica Swanagan, Nathan Swanagan, her great grandchildren; Alexis Bessermin, Kyla Bessermin, Ciara Bessermin, Avery DeVries, Evelynn DeVries, Niana Martinez, Nehemiah Martinez, Neziah Martinez, Caraline Kramer, Kiean Kramer, baby Sobiech/Shilka due in June, Urijah Dashner, Bennett Dashner, Noah Heyn, Eli Swanagan, Ayiana Swanagan, Beyonca Bridges, Beckham Bridges.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Wounded Warriors, an organization JoAnn felt strongly about.
Visitation from 11:00 AM – 11:45 AM, followed by a Service at 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Krause Funeral Home, 7001 West Brown Deer Road, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Burial at St. Hubert Cemetery.
