Bosch, John H.
95 years, what a great life!
On May 11, 2021, we lost another American patriot, John H. Bosch.
Born April 6, 1926, John was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Theresa Bosch, his sisters Lorraine and Viola, and his loving wife Jinnie (Virginia nee Writzmann) of 61 years until her passing in 2013.
He is survived by his daughters Jayne (Robert) and Barbara (Tom). Proud grandfather of Denise (Michael), Christopher (Jenny), Bryan (Catharine), and Haylie. Great-grandfather of Cora, Colette, Reeve, and Mallory. Special uncle of Susan and Joanne (Tom). Also survived by many family, friends, and fellow veterans.
John graduated from North Division High School in 1944 and 2 weeks later was drafted into the Army. John joined Battery C 147th Field Artillery unit or as he knew it as ‘The Bushmasters’ and headed to the Philippines. There he participated in two beachhead landings — First in Legaszpi, second in Batangas, Luzon. Rising to the rank of Sergeant, John’s final mission and deployment was the occupation of Japan.
His love of country and service didn’t stop here. He was a 55 year member of American Legion Post 219. His roles of 1st, 2nd & 3rd Vice Commander eventually prepared him for serving as the post’s commander. Additionally, he was a VFW member for 33 years.
His love of cars lead him to a lifelong career in the automobile industry, retiring from Crest Cadillac in Brookfield.
A man who valued family, friendships, and a great party – there was never a shortage of corn roasts, backyard BBQ’s, a lively cocktail hour, Milwaukee Polo outings, rounds of golf or deer hunting adventures with his cousins and friends.
John flew on the Sept 14, 2014 Stars and Stripes Honor Flight (SSHF). This life changing day opened the doors for him to promote SSHF and share his war stories – at Parades, fundraisers for SSHF, book signings, and Pewaukee Middle School Veteran Day programs.
John’s support and encouragement of the Bell Tower Memorial Veteran Oral History Project was endless. View Interview John Bosch Live Interview – YouTube. Connecting with veterans from the war and rallying for a great cause brought him great joy.
Thank you to the Zablocki VA Medical Center – Palliative Care Unit 9C-N staff for their exceptional care and endless kindness. From singing his favorite songs with Music Therapist Christine, sharing a coffee with TWO brown sugars, dressing up his DAILY servings of mashed potatoes to helping him learn how to FaceTime and Skype to say connected with family & friends – you made each day special.
Visitation at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Drive, Brookfield on Saturday, June 12, 2021, from 10:00 AM – 11:45 AM. Funeral Service 12:00 PM. To honor John and his love of patriotism, please wear Red, White & Blue! Private Full Military burial will take place at SWVMC, Union Grove, WI at a later date.
Participation with these two great organizations gave John purpose and an opportunity to share his story. In lieu of flowers, memorials to SSHF [ Donate | Stars and Stripes Honor Flight ] or BTM [Donate (belltowermemorial.org)] would be appreciated.
According to John:
Take time to listen.
There are Veterans out there that want to talk about their war experiences.
There are Veterans who don’t’ want to talk about it.
And, there are Veterans who want to talk about it, but no one will listen.
They all have stories to tell.
Every Veteran should have an opportunity to tell their story.
GOD BLESS AMERICA.
