(Nee Thornberry). Effie June was born May 15, 1925. She was the second child of John and Ida Bell (nee Vergne) Thornberry. Effie was born in Iron Mountain, Michigan. Her older brother, Leroy (Bunny) Thornberry preceded her in death. Her younger sister, Inez Riverside, lives in Iron Mountain, Michigan. She attended high school in Michigan and after graduation moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
June, as she preferred to be referred to, met Clarence Paul Schultz and married him on December 6, 1947. Our gracious God blessed them with four children. Paul, (Kathie deceased), Nancy (Tom Greil), James, and John (Sandy). June was blessed by the Lord with 9 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Her children were blessed in a special way by our Lord. She was a stay at home mother. While CP (as he preferred) worked 2-3 jobs to support the family, June stayed at home and raised their children in a Christian environment.
As their children grew in age she very successfully stepped back into the outside workforce. She worked during the summer months owning and operating carnival games as they worked the way through Wisconsin. She also owned and operated a food tasting business that operated in the greater Milwaukee area. She volunteered at the Wisconsin Lutheran Synod Bargain Center for 25 years. She was the manager at this Bargain Center for many of those years. She loved to play a card game named Sheepshead and Cribbage. Many times over the years she would end up as the big winner of these games.
June had may loves in her life. She loved her husband with all of her heart. Her children were the beneficiary of seeing that love in action through the years that she was married to C.P. He preceded June to his Heavenly Father on December 6, 1994.
She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She fiercely defended them when correct, they needed encouragement, they sought sage advice, or if a correction was needed she would deftly provide it. She traveled extensively with her growing family through Europe and almost all of the 50 states of this country that she loved so much.
She loved the Green Bay Packers, the Milwaukee Brewers and Bucks, pretty much any sports teams and spent many hours encouraging each team on to victory.
Even more importantly she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit worked through June and C.P. to give their children Christian educations, to be beacons, through the Holy Spirit, for our continued trust in the Lord. We are also certain of her salvation. We are certain that we will see her and all loved ones
~ who have trusted in our Lord and Savior once we are carried away, as on Eagles Wings as she was, to everlasting salvation.
In German they have a saying that is very appropriate in this case. It is Auf Weidersein. In German it doesn’t mean goodbye, but rather until we meet again. It is in that sure and certain hope that family and friends say to June Schultz, Auf Weidersein.
May our gracious God Bless you and keep you, may He make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you, may He lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace. God bless you all. Thanks for attending and much love to you all from the Schultz, Greil, Hendricks, Gilbertson, Sweeney, Fifarek, Swyers, Thornberry, and Riverside families.
