I’m sorry to learn that my favorite high school teacher has passed away. I’m a chemist myself now, thanks in large part to my positive experience with Mr. Borowski at Brookfield East in the 1970’s. My much-belated condolences to his family.

I just became aware of Lee's passing. My heartfelt condolences go out to the family. Although I never met Lee, he has been my main instructor over decades of nordic skiing, and I sincerely thank him for all he has done for me personally and for the sport. I wish I had a dollar for every time I’ve said, “Lee Borowski says............” to my skiing buddies. I think I have all of his books and videos and also have a thick folder of articles he has written. He has been, and continues to be, an inspiration and my primary teacher. Thanks again, Lee. We miss you.

I am saddened to hear the passing of Lee. I have many great memories of Lee at many events back in the 80's. From roller ski races to snow ski races, Lee was there often taking people aside and talking technique. A great man!

Betsy, family and all other friends and family. I want you to know this - and Lee too. Lee was truly an inspiration to me and so many others. I can still hear him telling me to quit basketball and just ski! I did. That changed my life, in so many great ways. I owe many wonderful experiences and facets of my life to him, as I'm sure others do. He will be missed by many, but many great memories of him will live on.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Our deepest condolences. Mr. Borowski was an instrumental factor in beginning my career in medicine and as an Orthopaedic surgeon now! He and Mr. Orlebeck gave so much to convey their knowledge of chemistry. Amazingly, he even taught a small class in organic chemistry. His life and influence live on in all of his students.

Lee was a long time xc ski friend. I first met him in the late 80s after he published his booklet on the Simple Secrets of Ski Skating, and I skied with him in several races. He was always positive and he trusted in his ability to figure this subtle sport out. My condolences to his family for your loss. He was an inspiration to many and will be missed.

Though I only was able to work with Lee on a few rollerskiing sessions, his impact was lasting. Like a great book, a great coach is always there in your mind long after you've parted. Thank you Lee for that lasting impression. Thank you to his family for sharing such a wonderful person with the world. I'm so sorry for your loss.
Luke Bodensteiner left a message on November 3, 2018:
I will always remember Lee for his enthusiasm, creativity, and passion for sharing. I benefitted so much from his generosity, and still carry with me today the many things I learned from him. Lee, thanks for helping me to enjoy skiing so much, something we both lived to do. I look forward to taking a long ski soon in your memory. I hope everyone who gets some early season tracks at Lapham this winter does the same.
