The world has lost a kind soul and warm heart. Marc passed away unexpectedly on November 22, 2019, at the age of 73. He leaves three families to mourn him; his birth family, his skiing family, and his motorcycle family. He is survived by sisters Jane Schneider and Barbara Hall (Phil); brother Chris Pettit (Kaye); sister-in-law Nancy Pettit; nieces and nephews Steve Pettit, Jason Schroeder (Nathalie), John Hall (Heidi), Nikki Morehouse (Craig), Matthew Hall (Aida), Alex Pettit; and grand nieces and nephews Neva Semo, Lola Schroeder, Connor Hall, Logan Morehouse, and William Hall. He was preceded in death by his parents John Pettit and Phyllis Zitelman; brother Michael Pettit (Nancy); nieces Susanne Semo (Tim) and Erin Schroeder (Kurt Kuss).
Marc was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and lived in the area all of his life. He graduated from New Berlin West High School in 1964 and then the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee in 1989 with a Bachelors in Business Administration, Management Info Systems.
Marc was the ultimate guru of all things hydraulic and pneumatic. He started his career in this field at Ritter Engineering in 1980 and worked his way up to sales and marketing custom solutions for Ritter, New Tech, Techmaster, Norgren, and C.L. Thompson.
Marc loved the outdoors especially winter. He was a member of the Sitzmark Ski Club for over 50 years and held numerous leadership positions including the Vail trip leader for 25 years. He once broke a leg skiing and then broke the leg cast snowmobiling. When the snow melted the Harley came out; when the salt hit the roads his precious chrome machine was safely tucked into storage. He was a lifelong Packer fan and season ticket holder. Even the Ice Bowl of 1967 wasn’t cold enough to keep him away.
He was always there to help anyone, often without being asked. He was accomplished in everything he tried but seemed to take more pride in the accomplishments of friends and family than himself.
Memorial Gathering to be held at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Drive, Brookfield, Wisconsin on December 21, 2019 from 1:00 PM – 4:15 PM. Memorial Service to follow at 4:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations to The Skin Cancer Foundation, SouthEastern Wisconsin Adaptive Ski Program, or any charity of your choice would be a great way to honor Marc.
We will forever miss your kindness, warmth, and especially your sense of humor. See you on the slopes.
