Mark was the ultimate Tactical Officer and I was fortunate to work with him. The video tribute shows the kind, caring side of a man that was loved by those who knew him. At work he was a tough and brave man doing the work needed to get the job done. It was my honor to call him my friend and partner.

The streets of Heaven are a bit safer as you are now on patrol. I remember our time together at District 7. Military veterans as well as police veterans. A special bond that only those who served can understand. Calm seas and gentle breezes my friend!

RIP Mark When I was in Stores at the Academy Mark would come in for batteries and supplies for training and we would end up chewing the fat about police events. I was a civilian and he was a cop, but I learned so much.He was the best! Mark Schmidt

My sincere condolences to Christine Koch and her entire family on the passing of Mark. Just wanted to let you know that I always appreciated all the help I received from Mark and his partners over the years while out on the streets. Mark and his partners were always ready to respond and assist many officers on the street. Mark and his partners were an asset to MPD and the citizens of Milwaukee they served. Now another good officer has left this planet way too soon but not without leaving his smile, work ethics and friendship for all to remember him by. Christine may God bless the entire Koch family during this time of sorrow now and in the future. Christine, I know you are a tuff cookie, so be strong for your family and accept all the love and compassion that comes your way. May your heart mend as you and your immediate family go thru the process of healing, after Marks passing. Remember Mark is on a new journey and probably has been assigned to gods TAC unit already. As Mark leaves everyone he cared for and those that loved him. Just remember that all those family and friends that Mark knew that left before him were all waiting for him with their arms open to accept him to the heavens above. Be safe Christine as you are in my prayers and someday in the future you will be reunited with Mark so you can continue holding hands again forever. Christine you and Mark were co-workers that many will never forget because of your caring and compassion towards others. R.I.P Mark Koch G. Irizarry

Mark was an outstanding police officer who always gave 100% of effort on assignments. As a TEU commander I saw first hand how brave and capable He was. During dangerous tactical operations Big Boy was mostly assigned to the #1 position as the lead officer on the 5 person entry team. He performed flawlessly with courage and bravery. Rest in Peace friend. You've done your job.
