Our precious mother, MaryAnn Murphy Makal, 94, passed away on Monday, November 28th, 2022 after residing many years at Alexian Village in Milwaukee, WI. She was born on September 30th, 1928 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, the daughter of John and Julia (Herr) Biskobing.
Known for her warm and infectious laugh, her skillful artistry as a knitter, crocheter, and seamstress, creating a beautiful afghan for every christening, graduation or marriage, her baking prowess, especially her apple pie, chocolate cake and cookies, her great love of our country and Tom’s Red Arrow Division, her prayerful dedication to Mother Mary and the Roman Catholic Church, and her endless devotion to her family, she will forever be lovingly remembered.
In addition to her parents, MaryAnn was predeceased by her brothers, Robert and Gerald Biskobing, her loving husband of 24 years, Cyril Murphy, her daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Terry Freeman, her sons, Thomas Murphy and Lt Col. Thomas J. Makal Jr., and Col. Thomas J. Makal Sr., who shared the last 37 of his 93 years with his beloved Mary Ann.
She is survived by her sister, Kathy (Carlos) Nava and her loving children, Linda (Tim) Iliff, William (Carol) Murphy, Colleen (Larry) DeJong, Daniel (Chris) Murphy, Marilyn Makal, Patricia Rossman, Ann (Dan) Buss, John (Marie) Makal, and Emily (Charlie) Waitzman. She adored her 20 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and lived to welcome 3 great-great grandchildren! In a life well-lived and well-loved, she had many dear friends and cherished nieces and nephews.
On Friday, December 9, 2022 from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM, there will be a time to visit and remember MaryAnn at Krause Funeral Home, 7001 West Brown Deer Road, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with a prayer vigil at 7:00 PM. There will be a Mass of Resurrection at St. Eugene’s Catholic Parish, 7600 North Port Washington Road, Fox Point, Wisconsin, on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 11:00 AM, followed by a procession to Holy Cross Cemetery.
