Carol Jean Gendron (nee Schetter) peacefully slipped away October 19, 2020 at the age of 93. She was born at home on December 7, 1926 in Breitung Township, Michigan to parents Fred and Isabelle (nee LeDuc) Schetter.
Carol is survived by her husband, Clifford, to whom she was a devoted wife for over 72 years, their daughter Anita (James) Eggert and son Jerry. Was a loving grandmother to Connie (Tom) Milton, Jennifer (Al) Gomez, Miria (Tige) Lofy, Rhianna Harrison, Hayley (Trent) Lund, Tara (Michael) Macpherson and Ian Eggert. Great grandmother to Jessica, Brett, Justin, Madeline and Benjamin, Hayden and Lillian, Alexandra and Aidan, Noah and Samuel, Wyatt and Garrett, Blake, Ashton and Caleigh and great-great grandmother to Grady and Gretta. She was preceded in death by her son Denny, her four siblings and their parents.
During Carol and Clifford’s 72 years of marriage they square danced, saw U.S.A. sites while traveling to her bowling tournaments and enjoyed spending time with family. In addition to being a loving wife, parent and grandparent, Carol was an active volunteer at St. Luke’s Holy Mary Society, New Berlin Homemakers Group, the Carpenter’s Auxiliary and an election poll worker.
She was an avid bowler in earlier years and later enjoyed Wii bowling, mini-golf and darts. In her free time, she loved the challenge of jigsaw and crossword puzzles, quilting, playing cards and she always played to win! She survived the home they built being flooded in the New Berlin 100 year flood, then her home being destroyed by a fire in 2005 and Cliff’s cooking the last few years, but she felt he needed something to do!
Carol will be remembered for her faith, generous spirit, and devotion to her family and friends. Deep in sorrow yet warmed by memories, we say goodbye for now.
Due to Covid, there will be a private service. Please view the service online here, available on Monday, October 26, 11: 00 AM.
