Patrick entered into eternal life on Friday, May 7, 2021, at age 79. Beloved husband of Sherry (née LaTour) Downs. Loving father of Laura (Tim) Downs-Buma and Jessica (Chris Wickham) Downs. Proud grandpa of Elizabeth, Tadhg, and Callum. He was born March 17, 1942 in Milwaukee, WI to John Kenneth and Helen Rose (née Lee) Downs.

 

Patrick was the seventh of 8 siblings. He was the dear brother of the late John K. (Ken) Downs, the late Patricia and Al Kalashian, the late Gerald and Shirley Downs, the late Kathleen and Dale Moberly, the late Therese Downs, and the late Margaret (Penny) and Ron Rakowski. He is survived by his brother Michael (Barbara) Downs. Patrick will be missed by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

He enlisted in the army after high school, attaining the rank of sergeant with the 82nd Airborne division by the time he was discharged. Moving back into civilian life, he became a businessman and entrepreneur involved in multiple ventures.

 

Patrick was known for his generosity and bon vivant spirit. He loved spending time with family and friends, golfing, traveling, and playing cards. Patrick was actively involved with Variety Club of Wisconsin for more than 40 years and worked tirelessly in various volunteer capacities.

 

Memorial Gathering at Krause Funeral Home, 12401 West National Avenue, New Berlin, Wisconsin on Monday, May 17, 2021, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Additional Visiting time on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at St. Rita Catholic Church, 2318 South 61st Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin from 10:00 AM until time of Mass at 11:00 AM.

Dear Family of Patrick Downs, I am only today just seeing that Patrick has passed away and I am so very sorry. I moved cross country recently and am late sending my Christmas/New Year's cards --and curious about the gap in our communication-- a google search led me to this page. I can only say again how sorry I am for your loss...he so loved his family, and always talked about you, he was so proud of all of his children. Gosh I'm sorry, I can guess how profound your loss...he was among the last of a dying breed...solid, kind, a man of faith...just a really good guy who had taken a swing at life and done well for himself. He will continue to be missed. I still remember a joke he told me about heaven where I am sure he was immediately welcomed. Please accept my most heartfelt condolences on this first Christmas without your beloved Patrick.
