Hansen, Peter T. – Retired Lt. Commander US Navy.
Passed away peacefully at the age of 81 on November 27, 2021. Peter was predeceased by his parents, loving daughter Sarah Baker, brother-in-law Tom Edgett, sister-in-law Peggy Lynch, and honorary brother Dennis McNally. Survived by most loving wife, Mary Lou (nee Sarosiek) of 57 years, his children Peter (Suzy), John, Jimmy (Val), Chris (Julie), and son-in-law Greg Baker. Peter will also be missed by his loving sister Sally Edgett and many nieces and nephews. “Papa Doc” of Skylar Hansen, Austin and Hailee Hansen, Alex and Ben Baker, Adaleigh and Thor Hansen, and Abby and Carter Hansen. Further survived by brothers-in-law Peter Sarasek, Jim (Diane) Sarosiek, and sister-in-law Susan (Dave) Roth, and honorary brother and sisters John (Susan) McNally, and Kathy McNally.
“Doc” graduated from Wauwatosa High School (‘58), Marquette University (’62) and Marquette School of Medicine (’67). He joined the US Navy as a Lt. Commander in 1971 where he served as an Anesthesiologist. He proudly served on the USS New Orleans during a tour in Vietnam. Doc was known for his friendly disposition and wanted everyone to know he was “perfect but improving.” He enjoyed a 33-year career as an Anesthesiologist at Elmbrook Memorial Hospital where he passed gas for fun and profit. While at Elmbrook, he made friends with anyone and everyone; and left a lasting impact on many patients in his care.
The family sends a special thanks to all the caregivers at Lakewood Assisted Living & Memory Care and Brighton Hospice for the above and beyond care they provided Doc and his family.
A private burial with military honors will be held at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield, Wisconsin. A celebration of life to be held in 2022.
In lieu of flowers: Memorials can be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, St. Jude Cancer Center for Children, or Capuchin Community Services to feed the poor and hungry would be appreciated.
