Ruth E. Reise
Ruth Ellen Reise (nee Werner) fell asleep in the arms of our Lord on September 8, 2022.
Ruth was born on March 28, 1928 at home on Greenfield Avenue to Olga E (Buege) and Frank M. Werner. Ruth graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran High School in 1947. Her family was active at St. Jacobi Lutheran Church, where Ruth taught Sunday School and played the piano and organ. She started working along with her best friend Jewel , first at a candy factory and then as a phone operator with A.G. Bell. From the stories she told, I can imagine a Lucy episode somewhere. She met her future husband, James Daniel Reise (1928-2009), when standing up for her cousin Danny’s wedding. After Jim served in Korea, they married on August 15, 1953. Jim and Ruth remained in Milwaukee until 1970 when they moved out to Pretty Lake near Dousman. There they were both active in the lake association. Through the years, Ruth worked part time at Gimbels and Boston Store. Later began her career as School Secretary at Ethan Allan School for Boys in Wales for 17 years. After retirement, they moved to Venice Florida. There they enjoyed various activities, trips and neighbors, including Ruth’s cousin Danny and wife Leone Krueger.
Ruth also enjoyed her animals and birds. Feeding the large egrets, storks and vultures along with the rabbits, quails and whatever came to her door. It made her day.
Eventually, Ruth moved up to Waukesha in 2015. Ruth enjoyed her own apartment until 2018, then moved to assisted living. First at Cecelia Place in Pewaukee and then Heritage Lake Country in Hartland. She was also a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pewaukee.
Ruth is survived by her children: David D. Reise and Cynthia E Wessel (Daryl); grandchildren: David Wessel and Lauren Wessel (Daniel Jones), along with nieces and nephews. Welcoming her to heaven are husband, James, her parents, and brothers Rev. Richard (Delores) Werner and Walter (Harriet) Werner among many friends and relatives.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ruth’s name to the International Essential Tremor Foundation www.EssentialTremor.org
