Danced Home to Jesus on Sunday, November 21, 2021. Age 52. Radiant mother of Aryanna (Andy) Bohl, Natalia Frinak, and Alexander (Autumn) Frinak. Loving grandmother of Eli Bohl. Beloved daughter of David and Oksana Carlson. Wife of David Durand. Sister of Michael (Ellen) and Matthew (Ginny O’Neil) Carlson. Also loved by other relatives and many friends.

Visitation at St. Jerome’s Catholic Parish, 995 South Silver Lake Street, Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, on Monday, November 29, 2021, from 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial at 3:00 PM. Private burial at St. Adalbert Cemetery.

Tamara was passionate about volunteering. She was a chaplain for Zilber Family Hospice and Waukesha Memorial Hospital. She always put others first. She taught for many years at Beaver Dam Elementary Schools and was a cheerleading coach for many years. She loved traveling, especially to Florida. She loved running and completed multiple half-marathons and 5Ks. Family was vitally important to her, and she especially found joy in her grandson, Eli. She was always dancing and recently joined the Milwaukee Dancing Grannies. Tamara had Masters degrees in Education and Theology, and was aspiring to complete her Doctorate in Theology. She was an organ donor, and will continue helping people even after her passing.

Tamara had just joined my red hat chapter (Cherry Bombshells) earlier this year but her schedule was so full that she never attended any of our events. We are sad that we never got to meet this wonderful, caring woman.

I was so saddened by the senseless loss of one of the bubbliest people I've ever known. I had the privilege of teaching with Tammy, as she would often dance or bounce past my classroom throughout the day on her way to and from the office or while walking her students to the gym. I say "dance or bounce" because that's how she walked; she never sauntered, always on the go. While she passed away doing something she loved, her loss will be felt in the world. My sympathy to her family and friends.

David, sorrow and grief for your loss is simply beyond words. Tammy was a bright light too soon and too tragically taken from the bounds of this world.
