What a loss...Tim was a warm and caring person who was a great support to me in my work with individuals with challenging behaviors. He was a wealth of knowledge and was always willing to share. He will be missed.

Christine and Dave Borleis left a message on August 11, 2018:
What an incredible loss! Tim had the gifts of encouragement and discernment, but most of all he had the gift of humor. He was at ease in any situation and made everyone he associated with feel valued and respected. My husband and I got to know Tim through his wife Nancy, whom I taught with for many years. I could only talk my husband into attending a school social function if I was able to assure him that Nancy would be bringing Tim along, too. If Tim would be there, then it would be a guaranteed enjoyable time! We will miss listening to all his stories about growing up in southeastern Wisconsin, his take on current events and his anecdotes about things he and Nan experienced on their many road trips. We have come to know Tim for his logical, no-nonsense outlook on life. He was a great listener and could help a person sort out any issue they were wrestling with. Tim has impacted so many people and will be missed greatly by everyone who was fortunate enough to know him.
Zoe left a message on August 10, 2018:
Tim was a person whose deep internal beliefs were congruent with his daily actions. Although kind and compassionate, he was also exceptionally courageous. Popularity and even security was never as important as honesty and advocacy. In this way Tim was a warrior. It is rare to find such gentleness combined with such grit! Tim's resilience and patience were tempered by his boyish excitement, a wonderfully irreverent sense of humor and what I can only describe as a pure spirit. His keen appreciation for daily things was most evident when talking of his wife Nan, his travel plans, past adventures and new psychological research studies or ideas for our department. Thank you Tim, for being such a wonderful supervisor and friend! I will miss you deeply, but know your next exciting journey has just begun. Go freely and peacefully, secure in the understanding that you were KNOWN.

Dan Fitzpatrick left a message on August 9, 2018:
Tim was a wild and crazy guy back at UW Madison in the early 70s. I recall riding motorcycles together a few times and a variety of other adventures including canoeing. Tim is one of 3 people I've known that seemed to have an answer for any question. Most of the time he was right. Just a few days before he passed, he shared his plans for travel after retirement. So sad. At least the pain is over and he's at rest.
Bob Turowski & Sandi Keller left a message on August 8, 2018:
“Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for a while, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never, ever the same” ― Flavia Weedn The above best describes the impact Tim had over my years of knowing him. Aside from the many, many fun times he and Nan shared with Sandi and I, I will never forget the support, kindness and concern he had for me during some of my most challenging personal experiences. I will never forget our hilarious laughter, his heartfelt guidance and the joy of knowing him for over 25 years. Rest in Peace my friend, you so deserve it.

I am so sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed Tim’s visits while I was at Layton site. Didn’t matter what topic, we could stretch a 5 minute check-in to a lovely 15 minute visit. I know Tim liked Aretha Franklin because I ran into Tim & James at her concert here a few years ago. I hope that he’s hearing the Queen of Soul wherever he is.

Tim was the kind of person who had to be the smartest guy in the room. And, typically, he was ! Tim was an incredible font of knowledge - name the topic, Tim knew something or everything about it. That also held true for his knowledge in social work. Tim's loyalty was to his profession and to those he served. Rest in peace, Tim.
James Truchan left a message on August 6, 2018:
Such a great guy- the Mental Health Community of SE Wisconsin has lost a true champion. Tim always spoke the truth- but always was diplomatic and compassionate. He also loved to laugh at the craziness of it all.
