A Life of Giving–
Trudy was born in Braunschweig, Germany on April 6, 1928, to Walter and Elfriede Kampe. She helped raise her 4 younger siblings and worked in the family’s small grocery store.
She and the rest of her family emigrated to the USA on the ship SS America in spring 1955 and became a naturalized US citizen. She married her lifelong husband Harry Norton in 1958. Harry had also emigrated from Pomerania, Germany in the early 1950s.
They lived the rest of her lives together at their beloved home near 94th Street and Keefe Avenue in Milwaukee. Harry loved to plant an abundance of flowers in their yard for him and Trudy to enjoy and share with other family and visitors.
They both worked at Briggs and Stratton Corporation for over 32 years. Trudy never drove a car, so she always relied on Harry to drive her places.
Trudy was always loving, caring, giving and generous. She also loved to cook and bake delicious German foods for her husband and other family members.
Although she never had any children of her own, Trudy always helped her parents, siblings, nephews, and nieces in any ways she could. She took care of our mother in their home and later at the nursing home, visiting her every day.
Trudy sent food and candy care packages to her nephews and nieces when they were in college or serving in the US Air Force. She gave candy and chocolate treats to many others she met.
Trudy was loved by everyone who knew her.
